Dog owners and lovers alike have lots of choices this weekend to get outdoors and support animal rescue.
Join hundreds of dog lovers this weekend in Fairfax and support Golden Retriever Rescue, Education and Training (GRREAT) at their annual 3K walk on Saturday, Oct. 25. Human and dog walkers are welcome, and with Halloween being next Friday, you’re encouraged to wear costumes!
The walk begins at 10:00 a.m., registration and check-in begin at 9:30 a.m. It begins in the parking lot behind Weber’s Pet Supermarket and winds through walking trails and a residential neighborhood. The fee is $25 per walker, and each participant gets a walk t-shirt.

Washington Animal Rescue League Barktoberfest
Also on Saturday, Oct. 25, is WARL’s Barktoberfest at Yards Park in D.C. From 1:00 to 5:00 p.m. attendees can enjoy beer and wine tastings, live music, food vendors, a dog Halloween costume contest, an agility park for the dogs, and vendors with merchandise for sale.
This is WARL’s first-ever Barktoberfest, and leashed dogs are welcome.
Tickets range from free for children 12 and under, to $10 for non-beer tickets, to $35 for general and $50 for VIP.
