Things to do this weekend, June 26-27

Party at the Park

Arlington is throwing a free, dog-friendly community party this Saturday June 26 from 2 to 8 p.m. at Metro Park, 1330 South Fair St. across from the Pentagon City Costco. The Party at the Park website says it will be a “great day of live music, games, food, beer, wine, and fundraising for Lost Dog & Cat Rescue Foundation.” The Arlington’s Top Dog contest, which has a $5 donation entry fee to Lost Dog, features categories including Best Trick, Looks Most Like Owner and Best Dressed.

GRREAT Day at Barrel Oak Winery

Super dog-friendly Barrel Oak Winery (Get it? B.O.W.?) in Delaplane, Va., is less than an hour’s drive from DC. On Sunday June 27 Golden Retriever Rescue, Education & Training (GRREAT) is hosting a day of fun and relaxation with your dog.

They have a wide selection of Virginia wines, including some with cute dog names like “BowHaus” and “Chocolate Lab” dessert wine which has an amazing rich chocolate taste. All dogs are welcome, not just Goldens. Relax on their large patio while sipping a chardonnay, listening to live music and enjoying the beautiful mountain views!
