This past weekend, the Washington Humane Society and Bungalow Sports Grill in Shirlington Village kicked off a month-long “Have a dog, save a puppy!” promotion. From July 12 to Aug. 15, a percentage of all sales from a special menu at Bungalow will benefit the WHS.
In the courtyard in front of Dogma Bakery, the WHS had volunteers with adoptable pups, including this adorable green-eyed baby. They also sold raffle tickets, collected donations, and distributed information about their work.
Bungalow had a cook preparing delicious gourmet hot dogs from the creatively-named special menu, such as a “Rottweiler” (grilled kielbasa with sauerkraut and spicy mustard), a “Chihuahua” (grilled hot dogs halved and wrapped in a tortilla with shredded cheddar, lettuce and sour cream), and a “Boston Terrier” (grilled hot dog with onions, beans and bacon).
Even better, each menu item had a beer “pawing,” a recommended brew to complement each dog. There were even turkey sausage links for the furry guests, compliments of the cook.
So sometime in the next couple of weeks, bring Fido down to Bungalow, enjoy a dog and a brew on their dog-friendly patio, and help save a puppy at the Washington Humane Society!
