AWLA’s Pops for Pets in Pictures

popslogo-final_print-227x300The Animal Welfare League of Arlington threw a fun, outdoor dog-friendly event on Sunday, June 29, at Lubber Run Amphitheater in Arlington. Pops for Pets featured a lively classical music concert from the Arlington Philharmonic including patriotic, animals of the orchestra and classical creatures sets.

A couple hundred people and their pets filled the amphitheater benches and grassy hill, bringing picnics and blankets. Children played in the creek alongside the venue, while families dined on everything from pizza to sushi.

It was a really nice event, with an hour and a half of music (from 6 – 7:30 pm), and free and plentiful parking in the surrounding neighborhood.

The event was to celebrate the AWLA’s 70th anniversary, so hopefully they raised a lot of money through donations! I hope they make this a tradition, or even a series of concerts, it was a great, low-key evening.
