Take advantage of getting some fresh, fall air before the temperatures start to drop and join the Animal Welfare League of Alexandria for its first-ever Alexandria Shelter Walk on Sunday, Oct. 21, in Old Town Alexandria. The Walk begins at 9:00 a.m. at Market Square and takes a 1 1/2 mile route through historic Old Town.
The Walk helps raise funds to support AWLA programs that combat animal homelessness, promote responsible pet care, and match shelter animals with adopters.
Human walkers of all ages and dogs are welcome, the shelter asks that other companion animals be left at home, though.
Online registration is closed, but you can still register onsite for $40 starting at 7:30 a.m. the morning of the walk.
